Diplomooceras maximum

Large (158.5 cm long) heteromorphy ammonite Diplomooceras maximum (Olivero and Zinsmeister, 1989) as it was found in the Maastrichtian Lopez de bertodano Formation of Seymour Island, Antarctica. Notice small wooden stakes driven into the outcrop to hold fragmented pieces of the ammonite shaft in place for the photo. In reality, these pieces were at the base.
